Midwifery [weirdest word ever and makes me think of the dark ages] is a health care profession in which providers offer care to childbearing women during pregnancy, labor and birth. Practitioners also help care for the newborn and assist the mother with breastfeeding. They may provide birth control, education, and prescriptions for well-woman health care as well.
Medwifery is an insanity care profession in which providers offer care to med school husbands during med school, the labor of ridiculous school work and the birth of residency [ew]. Medwives also help care for the other medwives and assist the med student in eatfeeding. They may provide brain control, domestic education, and prescriptions for mental-man health care as well.
I'm attempting to explain with humor [or as they say here "umor"], that there is a reason I don't have time to blog. Heaven bless you full-time working, full-time parent, full-time whaterr people. I don't know how you do it. If I ever have free time, it is not put to aimlessly bore the world with my life [jk I don't have one]. My free time consists of: paying bills, checking emails, scheduling appts., cleaning up after the medwifery patient, grocery shopping, trying to fulfill my calling... getting the vibe? And then, if I have free time from my free time, it consists of: eating, Netflix, eating, Hulu, working out, sleeping.
Why I gave in to blogging today:
Our 3rd year of med school has been SAVED! We have escaped the claws of Upstate NY and looks like we can stay in lovely Florida :]. There are so many blessings that have come with this news.
1. We were going to have to live in a notsogreat city called Elmira. Very small prison town, not much to do if you're not a med student doing rotations. [aka I would have no where to party [aka no where else to eat or not eat]
2. Zane is taking DO and MD boards and finishes on the 28th. We have to be out of our apartment by May 31st!!! So we have to move immediately. If we were sent to Elmira, we'd have to drive 1200 miles and spend insane amounts of money on gas and travel, go to an apartment that we had to hope was decent because we can't afford to drive up there to check things out. Now, we will hopefully have only one moving trip to another apartment, maybe 1/2 tank of gas. And, I can go look at apartments any time from now until end of April. Gas won't be killing us and we can still survive on one car. YUP. Blessings.
3. We are still near my best friends!!!! The only friends I would have in Elmira would be the prison guards and the landlord. Everything is awesome...
Oh, would you like more reasons for me not being able to blazon my life? [yes that's a word.]
I have essentially 5 jobs right now; we are trying to be as fiscally frugal as possible. If med school wife wants to know how to stretch a dollar and survive, call me. [my number is not here. and do not call me maybe.] I am currently the breadwinner. And I will tell you, in these circumstances, it will always seem to be a small loaf :].
1. I am a part-time nanny for an amazing woman, Ali Miller. I work 6hrs Tues. and 6hrs Thurs. She lives a little bit out of the way, but it sure is worth the drive.
2. I am a Personal Trainer at YMCA in here in LWR, which is amazing because it's ACROSS the street and literally next to Zane's school! 5 min walk. [and somehow I am too lazy to walk for 5mins.]
3. I am a Personal Trainer outside of the YMCA with my own clients!
4. I occasionally babysit for a new friend, I was hired by last year. She is wonderful and her girls are adorable. 2.5 y.o. and 5 y.o. She lives only 10 min. away!
5. I work for my Dad 2ce a month with stuff that he seriously doesn't have time for!
d. I won't count this as a job per say, but I am the Secretary of our Relief Society. We are a brand new ward and things are really difficult, but never boring :]. Growing up I always remember being like holy crap, Nana and Grandpa have to drive 20 mins to church that's insane. Hah now I get it. [60 min. roundtrip. 40 mile round trip.]
If anywonderfulone would like an example of being creative and let's face it, cheap, try this recipe. When I saw the name I thought, ew, this is what that weird lady fed her llama in Napoleon Dynamite. But nay, 'twas DELISH. I hate when I see a "10 minute," or "easy" dinner online. No one can possibly have any of the weird and expensive ingredients in the recipe. This really is very healthy, quick and affordable.
Tuna Casserole
2 cups brown rice, cooked
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can campbell condensed golden mushroom soup [we used one 98% fat free mushroom soup, Great Value brand]
2 (6 ounce) cans chunk light tuna, drained and flaked
2 cups frozen peas, cooked and drained
4 tablespoons dry breadcrumbs [we used steal oats instead]
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese [we used low fat weight watchers jalapeño cheese]
[we also added a dash of ground garlic, chili powder and a few dashes of dried parsley]
Directions:
Butter a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish; set aside. [we used pam instead]
In a mixing bowl, mix together the first 5 ingredients.
Sprinkle the breadcrumbs [or oats] evenly over the bottom of the casserole dish.
Transfer the tuna-rice mixture into the casserole dish and spread out evenly.
Sprinkle cheese evenly over the top.
Bake in a 350° oven for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly.
Well, if anyone gets to the end of this blazon of medwifery [yep. used it again.], you should get an award. Maybe even a Dundie.
Loved....loved...loved this!!
